The first annual FACT Spa & Wellness Awards Abu Dhabi ceremony took place on Monday 10th December at the beautiful outdoor venue of Crowne Plaza Yas Island.

44 awards were given out across 22 categories which covered over 100 hotel and independent spas, salons, health clubs, and wellness centres.

More than 60,000 unique online votes were cast by the public in the UAE.

Around 200 guests enjoyed a sociable evening of delicious canapés and free flowing drinks  at the 5-star Crowne Plaza Yas Island, which was awarded Best Health Club 2018.

FACT Spa & Wellness Awards is part of a wider initiative by FACT M.E. who are already well established with their popular dining awards in the Gulf region.

Abu Dhabi, UAE, December 2018: FACT Abu Dhabi Magazine hosted its inaugural Spa & Wellness awards on December 10 at the stunning outdoor venue of Crowne Plaza Yas Island. The much-anticipated event, which celebrates the successful fourth year of operation for the publication in the UAE capital, was held at one of the city’s most iconic 5-star hotspots. Close to 200 guests were seen socialising at the exclusive event, whilst enjoying an evening of great company and free flowing food and drinks, as the winners from the 22 categories were announced.

The who’s who of Abu Dhabi’s hospitality industry turned out for the exciting ceremony turned party, with top GMs, Spa Directors, Marketing and PR professionals, as well as selected Abu Dhabi bloggers and social media influencers in attendance. Embodying FACT’s down-to-earth and fun approach, the event was a laid-back and casual affair with a touch of winter vibes for an all- round classy get-together. After years of trying and testing lavish treatments across the city from plush hotel spas to fabulous independent venues, FACT has become the luxury authority in the UAE.

The FACT Spa & Wellness Awards Abu Dhabi celebrated the leaders of the industry who continue to be the gateway for indulgence in the finer things in life. Speaking after the event, Edward Smith, Publisher, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to lift this off the ground. In what is our first, of many more to come, annual awards recognising the best in luxury spas and wellness in Abu Dhabi, we are very excited to see this event come to fruition.

“The spa and wellness sector is a multi-million dollar industry and pampering is an essential part of the Abu Dhabi lifestyle, so it’s amazing to share a mutual support between the media and the healthand wellbeing market, especially because there are just so many high-quality places in the city,” he added. “I would like to congratulate all the winners, and give a huge shout out to every single nominee. The FACT Spa & Wellness Awards recognise brilliance in the health and wellbeing industry, with winners awarded based on both public votes and critics’ opinion. Each category was given two awards, the BEST and the FAVOURITE. The latter is the result of a popular choice decided through online public voting, and the former is the critic’s choice decided by an independent panel of lifestyle bloggers, industry experts and the FACT editorial team in Abu Dhabi. Some of the standout accolades included the Best and Favourite Hotel Spa, awarded to Rosewood Abu Dhabi and Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, respectively. Iridium Spa at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort walked away with two awards for Favourite Facial Treatment and Favourite Overall Spa in Abu Dhabi, whilst other notable winners included Abu Dhabi hotspots such as Sisters Beauty Lounge, Zen The Spa at Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas and more 5-star locations across the city.
